LANGUAGE TIP FOR THE YEAR

Language is arbitrary. Think about the English language. Why does sing become sang in the past tense, but bring becomes brought?  What is the rule?

Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason for the “rules” or for when “rules” are to be broken.  Since this fact will not change, do your best to accept it, rather than getting frustrated.

Keep a positive attitude!!  Make a running list of all the “exceptions to the rule.”  Treat these particular words as vocabulary rather than grammar.
