Science T calendar or Students should be keeping a folder. We will be studying biodiversity first in 8th grade, a chemistry unit for 7th grade and models and designs for my 6th graders. There will always be a review sheet for tests and the students will have advance knowledge of the dates. Homework varies, but is usually not assigned for the weekend. Help me to help you have a great year! Do your homework and study for tests and quizzes. Math 8 calendar or sStudents should be keeping a math notebook. There is usually homework Monday to Thursday. Notebooks should be coming home these nights. When you are absent remember to get your class participation sheet signed by your parent. Make-up work should be turned in promptly. Check the calendar to see what you missed. Math Enrichment Classes Textbooks: 5th, 6th, and 7th will be using their Connected Math Books from class. 7th Grade students will also be using the 8th Grade Connected Math Books.
Grading System: 5th / 6th: 60% CW/HW and 40% Tests 7th: 50% CW/HW and 50% Tests
Homework: Will be given every week. It will be graded for completeness. My homework is posted with a link to iCal on this web page (see above). Make-up Work: The letter file on front table will have make-up worksheets. Students may have to stay after school to make-up tests or receive extra help when necessary. This can be arranged with the teacher. Course Topics: 5th and 6th grade will be covering the same topics as their regular class with extensions and challenges. 7th grade will be adding topics from the following Connected Math Books: Pythagoras (Geometry), Say it With Symbols (order of operations), Moving Straight Ahead (graphing linear equations and coordinate graphing), Clever Counting (how many different ways to do something), Kaleidoscopes (Symmetry and transformations), and Samples and Populations (data analysis).
Notebooks: 5th and 6th grade should bring their math notebooks. Please add a divider and label Enrichment Math. 7th grade should bring a separate 1 inch binder with 3 dividers. They will be issued the above listed books as needed. All students should bring notebook paper and pencils to class.
Calculators: A Scientific calculator (TI30 or TI34) will be supplied in class. However, there will be times when one is needed for home.
