COURSES: 10 HONORS ENGLISH This course is designed for highly motivated students who will perform on an accelerated intelluctual level. Students will complete a summer reading assignment. During the year, students will be responsible for writing a Poetry Literary Paper, several journals, and various essays. Extensive reading spans all major genres. Students will read short stories, novels, a Shakespearean play, fiction, and non-fiction works. Students will be challenged to think critically and read challenging literature independently. Students will be required to comprehend, interpret, evaluate, respond to, and analyze literature through the reinforcement of formal vocabulary, a variety of writing assignments, research, and co-operative learning skills. 1
10CP ENGLISH English 10CP includes a diverse range of literature including non-fiction, drama, the short story, poetry, and novels. Students will comprehend, interpret, evaluate, respond to, and analyze literature through the reinforcement of formal vocabulary, a variety of writing assignments, research, independent reading, and co-operative learning skills. Students will also be responsible for writing a Poetry Literary Paper, a journal, and formal essays.
