Local Community Colleges

Cumberland County College

This is a great choice for all Schalick students wanting a two year education, or for those who want to transfer after two years to a four year school.  Outstanding programs in Nursing, Business, and the Arts.  Unique programs in Ceramics, Agriculture/Horticulture and Engineering Technologies.  Keep in mind that Schalick students pay a special rate of $82.00/credit(2005-2006) which is only two dollars more per credit than an in-county student would pay.

Salem County College

Schalick students who qualify as NJ Stars scholarship recipients must attend Salem County to take advantage of the scholarship opportunity.  Salem County is a great choice for other students as well.  Many students begin their Salem county education while still at Schalick by participating in the Senior Option program, or the School-to-Careers program.  Salem's unique programs include Scientific Glass Technology and Glass Art.

Gloucester County College

Gloucester County offers Schalick students an opportunity to experience a college that is a little bit farther away from home while not being too far.  Some students like this choice because of the fact that they can meet other college students from high schools outside of Cumberland and Salem County.  Gloucester County offers an attractive tuition of just $75.00/credit (July 2005) for out of county students, and has some great two year and transfer programs available.  Selective Admissions Programs include their Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound technology), Ford ASSET program and Nursing among others.

Camden County College

This is a larger more comprehensive community college with three campus' around the county.  The main campus is located in Blackwood which is a safe suburban area about 30 minutes from Pittsgrove Township.  The campus is easy to get to as it is only a few minutes off of Route 42 in Blackwood.  The areas offered for study are vast and many programs are available for the community college bound student who wants a little bit more.  Tuition is reasonable at about $77.00/credit.

Atlantic/Cape Community College

Located in Mays landing on Route 322 this college will require a commute of about 40 to 45 minutes but is a great choice for kids who want a different environment and don't mind the drive.  One of their most excellent programs is the School of Culinary Arts.  This program is known throughout the area for it's excellent training and job placement opportunities.  Certain programs will require a full tuition payment of $158.00/credit, however the Culinary Arts program is eligible as a chargeback program (meaning it is not available at our county college) and will only cost $79.00/credit.  Check out tuition breakdowns here.
