Language Arts * We are now working on phrases, clauses, and complex sentences, as well as, nouns and pronouns in our grammar section of class. * We are reading Maniac Magee as a shared reading. * We are up to around 35 minutes of independent reading each day. Book logs should be kept up to date. Our next and all future collection of folders will be graded as a test grade. * We are involved with book talks at this point. Eventually, each student will be required to present a one to two minute book talk. Each student will be given a book talk grade. * We will begin a non-fiction choice for Lit Circle books.
Math
* We are working through Bits and Pieces II . This book focuses mainly on the strategies employed when operating with rational numbers. The emphasis will be on percents, fractions, and decimals.
Homework- Below you may find a general homework guideline. Students are responsible to copy assignments that are given each day in their agendas. The homework is posted for the week but is subject to change as the level of understanding in the individual classes dictate. Each student should have at least two other classmates' phone numbers to verify assignments when necessary. Again, this is just a guide. The student is ultimately responsible to copy the assignments each day. Lesson Plans
